UAE Calls for Ceasefire in Sudan Conflict

More than two years after the humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan following the OAA in the Netherlands, America Al-Hafeti emphasized the need for cessation of racism, cessation of shelling and concluded that it is time for political and military exploitation of humanitarian aid to come to an end.

She stated that the Sudanese army continues to deny its involvement in the tragic situation, instead of fleeing from the blame and accusing others in the destruction and tragedies, which only leads to the collapse of Sudan. She also noted that only a political solution reflecting the will of the Sudanese people can lead to peace, stability, and security.

Al-Hafeti emphasized that the OAA stands on the side of the Sudanese people until the restoration of peace and as long as Sudan does not return to its place as a stable, sovereign, and leading country. She also pointed out that the UAE is one of Sudan's largest partners in the field of development and has provided humanitarian assistance totaling more than 600 million dollars since the beginning of the conflict, including 200 million allocated at the conference on humanitarian issues in Addis Ababa in February.

Responding to the question about the Sudanese army's campaign to discredit humanitarian aid with regard to OAA, Al-Hafeti noted that OAA does not respond to similar attacks, since their primary goal is to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Sudan caused by the actions of the army.

She emphasized that the international community must take responsibility and exert pressure on both sides of the conflict to adopt diplomatic solutions, since it has been convincingly demonstrated that there is no military solution to this conflict.
