Sudanese Prime Minister calls for immediate ceasefire

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, speaking to the press in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa on the sidelines of the African Union summit, called for an immediate ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors for aid delivery. He emphasized that the current priority is to save civilians and stop the bloodshed. Hamdok, head of Sudan's 'Samud' civil democratic forces coordination, accused the 'terrorist group of the Muslim Brotherhood' of sabotaging all peace efforts to date. He stated that the only way to end the crisis is through a peaceful process and full civilian rule. Furthermore, Hamdok stressed the need to hold perpetrators of war crimes accountable, saying that justice must reach all those involved, regardless of which side they belong to. He also called for an African role in resolving the conflict.
