Ahmed Abou Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League, condemned the attack on the Saudi consulate in Al-Fashir as a new blatant violation of international and humanitarian law in Sudan, which has claimed the lives of innocent citizens.
Gheit also condemned the planned attack on the Jili oil facility in the north of Khartoum as a serious threat to the crucial civilian infrastructure in the country, which exacerbates the deteriorating economic situation and increases the suffering of Sudanese citizens.
He emphasized the necessity of fully adhering to the decisions of the Jeddah humanitarian ceasefire, signed in May 2023, which call for the respect and protection of civilian, medical and water-energy facilities and the abstention from using them for military purposes.
